If you are following me on Facebook or Instagram, you know that we are more than halfway finished with our new home. It’s been such a crazy and amazing journey!
Let me start from the beginning.
My husband and I purchased 10 acres back in 2014 and had hopes to build one day and have no mortgage. Why did we need to move though? We had a beautiful home on 1 ½ acres in a neighborhood that we really loved.
We lived about 30 minutes from town and our kids were getting to the age where they were driving and honestly, we were just doing more in town than we did when they were little. My life basically consisted of home-school and 4-H and I was fine with that.
Back to the new property. We drove by three times and just felt God telling us to buy this piece of land. We’re still not sure why LOL, but I will tell you, we never looked back.
We sold our old house and made the decision in 2016 that we would start building, but take out time. We wanted something different with this house. My husband and I designed the floor plan with our future family in mind when our kids get married and have children of their own. This house has a stem wall foundation and the structure is made from Insulated Concrete Forms aka ICF. It’s pretty tight and will withstand winds up to over 200mph.
I guess you could say, we are starting over. Our kids still live at home for now, and we all are looking forward to moving into our new home, hopefully, by the end of the year.
Drywall just went up and I wrote scriptures all over the framing prior to. I wanted to have God’s blessing on everyone that is in our home – guests, friends, family. We also want to be good stewards with what HE has given us. If you think about it, building a new home foundation is comparable to how Jesus is the core and the foundation of our life. Did you know that there’s over 50 scriptures in the Bible that talk about building a house?
By the grace God has given me, I laid a foundation as wise builder, and someone else is building it. For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. ~ 1 Corinthians 3:10-11
If we build our life on Christ, that means we completely obey and depend on him. Just like a home sits on a foundation, our life should sit on Christ and trust him completely.
