Have you ever tried using a a Sourdough Starter before? I’ll never forget my first time LOL using it. A friend of mine gave me a starter and I did really good leaving it on the counter and having to feed it and then made the most delicious bread.
Now, I have found a way to keep it alive. My friends over at Traditional Cooking School have a great start up guide with all kinds of tips on how to work with your starter. The problem was when I stuck it in the refrigerator and forgot about it. I used to never be able to keep that poor thing alive!
Sourdough starter is basically flour and water. You can use fresh milled whole wheat or Einkorn (you’ll learn all about this kind of flour in the guide). You basically, feed it for 3-5 days and then you have this wonderful starter to make bread. Easy Peasy, right?
Most people that have an issue with “traditional” flour as in digestive issues or stomach aches, tend to be able to eat sourdough bread. It has beneficial bacteria that’s good for our body.
