November seems to be the month where we can relax. October we are all busy with pumpkins and festivals and the day after Thanksgiving, well, starts the Christmas festivities. I love November! I still keep my Fall decor up through Thanksgiving and just live the month with gratitude!
This month we honored a very special lady. My husband’s grandmother turned 95 and we thru a big bash to celebrate her special day!
It all started with Nana telling me last year that if she made it to 100, she would put her square dance costume on. Well, that got me thinking. Why wait until then, let’s celebrate this year! As much as I wanted to have square dance party, in reality, I probably would’ve been the only one dancing LOL.
I decided to get Nana involved in the party planning so it would give her something to look forward to. She has talked about this party non-stop for about 5 months!
The theme of the party was “Thankful and Blessed”. I wanted Nana to know how much we love her and how thankful we are that she’s in our life.
We played a game – “Name that Memory”, where we read out the memory and Nana had to guess who wrote it. It was so neat to have her share so many memories with her family and friends.
In lieu of cards, we had a tape recorder there so everyone could wish Nana a Happy Birthday vocally. She can’t see at all anymore but she will surely enjoy replaying our voices over and over.
Everything was amazing – food, music and the fellowship! I am so Thankful for this woman. After 23 years in this family, I love her just as if she was my own Nana.
We’ve decided to spend Thanksgiving with Nana this year. Usually, we are doing different things and I just feel God has laid it on my heart to spend the day with her. I’m making her favorite dishes and can’t wait to hang out with her on Thursday.
What are your plans for Thanksgiving? Do you have any favorite dishes?
I hope you have a wonderful day celebrating with your family and loved ones. There is always something to be thankful for!
Stay tuned for a BIG Sale I’m having on Saturday, November 24th!!!! <3
